Shop Alert: DVF to Open in Boston

Diane von Furstenberg has not only been busy designing groovy patterned wrap dresses; she’s been opening up boutiques worldwide; 28 internationally to be exact, though only five in the U.S. But business is booming and open she will.  Although she’s got a flagship is in the Meatpacking District, and she’s secured a lease for a 2,000 square foot Soho outpost, which, according to WWD, Furstenberg says, will be “a lab to funnel ideas through all our stores and our wholesale business.”

More importantly, DVF is coming to Boston!! WWD reports that a DVF boutique will open in Boston in July. Must do some recon to find out where. I’m guessing Newbury; there are plenty of storefronts from which to choose. Any thoughts?

Deal Alert: Cynthia Rowley Sample Sale in Boston

I was so excited when Cynthia Rowley opened a boutique on Newbury last year. Partially because it reminds me of my twenties in New York City; one of my favorite charity gala dresses is a Cynthia Rowley. I’m doubtful I will ever squeeze into its size 2-ness, yet I will never part with it. That said, I’ve hardly bought a thing at this still new shop. Well, now’s my chance. The Boston sample sale starts tomorrow and goes through Sunday, 10am to 9pm (really, in Boston, 9pm?!), up to 80% off on clothing and accessories. See ya there.

Shop Alert: Second Time Around, Three Times on Newbury

Is consignment shop Second Time Around trying to taking over the world? It’s certainly aiming to dominate Newbury Street. Yesterday I spotted its third outpost, at #324, between Hereford and Mass Ave. True, that last block of Newbury is like its own little world, but seriously? If they have that much stuff, then we’re all buying too much and disposing of it too soon. Though they do take on extra stock from area boutiques too. I should probably clear my closet and see if I can get some extra cash. Everyone else is doing it.

Shop Alert: Shoo Woo Opens In Copley

Boston’s Copley Place has a new shoe shop, shoeWoo. It’s a chain (this seems to be the company’s sixth outpost) that carries affordable lines that include Nine West, Joan & David, AK Anne Klein, and Rachel Roy. While the interior looks like a sumptuous shoe salon, the merch seems more fitting to the not quite as fancy Shops at the Prudential. Though, I suppose it’s not all Jimmy Choo, Tiffany, and Louis Vuitton at Copley Place; that’s where I shop J. Crew. I haven’t actually checked out shoeWood yet, but next time I need a mall fix I’ll definitely wander in.
