The one piece of furniture I’ve longed for, lusted after, craved, dreamed of is a very specific modern lounge chair—the Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, preferably in creamy white leather, and I think, a white ash shell, though I also love the palisander and walnut finishes. I suppose it would depend on where it lived. At $6,000, it is definitely a dream.

When I searched for side chairs for our living room, we didn’t have the luxury of considering elongated or flamboyant modern lounge chairs, like the iconic creations of the mid-century masters, such as Arne Jacobsen’s Egg chair or Harry Bertoia’s Bird chair.
