Montage: 18 Pure White Tubs

I finally had a bit of time to relax this weekend. No writing, no blogging (sorry, an electrical storm fried my modem – again!) and no cleaning. (I did plant cucumbers and peppers though.) For me, relaxing on Cape Cod means taking a bath, made extra wonderful with a book and Origins grapefruit bubbles. While my bathroom is covered in sky blue glass tile, I have gathered here pure white, wonderful tubs. A peaceful way to start the week . . .

Montage: 17 Bunk Beds

I have no good reason for blogging about bunk beds today. I had them growing up. My 7-year-old has them in his room in Boston. My 8-year-old has them in his room on the Cape. Probably just about every other kid in America (and Europe? I don’t know, are bunk beds distinctly American?) has ’em too. So, here are bunk beds, just because. Hey, these are nice enough for grown ups…

ARTmonday: Grace Hopkins-Lisle

Grace Hopkins-Lisle is an artist who grew up in NYC and is now based in Portland, Maine, with her husband, artist Andrew Lisle and her sweet little girl Gigi. Grace shows her work in galleries all over the Northeast. I discovered her work in Cape Cod. Her father, artist Budd Hopkins, is a longtime friend of my in-laws. (I’ll do a post on Budd at some point too.)

Grace characterizes her work as abstract photo-paintings. I have included a sampling of her photos from 2005 to the present , so you can their progression. This is how she describes the evolution: ” In the past few years I have been getting closer to my subject matter and minimizing the number of objects in my pictures, essentially zeroing in on what really interests me and excluding everything else.”
