ARTmonday: Héctor Sos Paper Faces

I spotted the first of these quirky portraits through Anna Degenaar on Pinterest. They’re by by Spanish artist Héctor Sos. The series is called “Paper Faces.” Maybe he’s crafty, or really digs Confetti System. Actually it’s part of a catalog for paper company Torras Papel done in 2009. Hector Sos did the art direction; photos by Xavier Mendiola.

ARTmonday: 19 Quirky Bunny Artworks

In anticipation of Easter,  a special edition of bunny-themed artwork that has hopped across my screen.

As part of the 2011 openART biennale in Sweden, Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman built this giant yellow bunny using local materials and craftsmen (via Inhabit).

ARTmonday: Ye Rin Mok

Although I’ve yet to blog about all the pieces in my personal collection or the ones I covet, you may have noticed I have a thing for slightly edgy, somewhat fashion-y  female photographs, many of them showing just the bottom portion of the figures, often in hipster neighborhoods, glam rooms, or verging-on-seedy spaces. Los Angeles photographer  Ye Rin Mok‘s images fall into this category. Not surprising, since she shot a campaign for legwear company Hansel from Basel. The photographer has also done work for Dwell and Nylon, plus plenty of ‘zines.

ARTmonday: Sally King Benedict Abstact Paintings

I discovered the abstract paintings of Atlanta artist Sally King Benedict last month from a pin on interior designer Angie Hranowskey’s “Abstract” board.  I love the bold and cheerful colors, shapes, and compositions. Many of these are already sold; I’m hoping she’s at work on a new series.

ARTmonday: Ashley Goldberg • Portraits of Girls

Artist Ashley Goldberg of the blog Kitty Genius, whom I discovered on Pinterest, has been creating some great patterns of late: birds, feathers, dots, geometric shapes. When I clicked over to her Etsy shop, I was immediately drawn to these charming portraits of mod girls who seem to have come out of a world where ’60s London meets contemporary Harajuku. I may need to buy the postcard set.
