Montage: 50 (More) Green Rooms

I posted 40 Green Rooms back in the summer of 2009, so it’s time for an update, especially since Saturday is St. Patrick’s Day. (Not that I’m Irish, but green is my favorite color.) Mint green is trending in fashion, but unfortunately, I didn’t come across many mint green interiors in my photo archives. Maybe that’s a whole other post down the line. Let me know if you’ve spotted any mint green rooms around the web.

Montage: 47 Coffee/Cocktail Tables

Now that our living room is habitable again (aside from the two extra dining tables taking up half the space), I’ve decided to try out the Heywood-Wakefield coffee table with revolving top that we salvaged from my husband’s grandparents house. I had initially been thinking of an airy brass and glass piece, to work with the pair of atomic ball and brass-plated  vintage lamps from eBay and yet to be chosen future chandelier, but this one looks pretty good.

It works nicely with our Petrie sofa, which has similar lines to the original 1960s pieces his grandparents used to furnish the house. (Too bad our sofa is uncomfortable. Actually, it’s fine for cocktails, but not conducive to lying around with a laptop. Which do you think I spend more time doing?

Here are 49 living rooms with various styles of coffee table (or cocktail table, I guess the term is interchangeable). If you’re working on figuring out what type of design will work for you, these images will provide some ideas.

Montage: 22 Spaces with Sheepskin Throws

It makes sense that so many taste makers strew sheepskin throws on the furniture. Whether it’s to reinforce the cozy in an already dressed down space, soften a room that’s bit too sleek, or add texture to a monochromatic palette, the shaggy skins are undeniably a nice touch.

I was immediately drawn to the gray sheepskins that are thrown over the chairs in the third photo down. I could do that, I thought. I had seen the curly gray versions at IKEA. They’d make the perfect touch on my new gray sofa in the family room. At once inviting and edgy. So tempting. Until I thought about it. How many times a day do I replace the pillows and blankets that litter the floor? Did I want to add to the chore? Not so much. Oh well.

Maybe it’d work on my all white bed. Who am I kidding? I don’t make my bed . . .
