Summer is often the time my husband and I purchase art. This summer we got an amazing piece at Farm Project Space + Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Wellfleet that is quite unlike the other galleries in town. Susie, the owner, has a great eye and appreciation for emerging talents.
Pablo Manga is a Boston-born, San Francisco Bay Area artist who is a former New York City public school teacher, art lawyer, and Academy of art instructor. While living in Mexico City in the late ’90s, Pablo stumbled upon street vendors selling rolls of brightly colored, translucent adhesive tape, which he quickly snapped up. He experimented with them in all sorts of ways, finally settling on the obvious application – horizontal stripes. The tape is layered to create the varying tones and depths.
On the dining room sideboard in Cape Cod. It will come home to Boston for the winter.
