Just In: The Novogratz’s New Brasil Collection for CB2

Following on the heels of the successful launch of their first collection with CB2, (I still LOVE that multicolor Family rug) The Novogratz duo has designed a second batch of furnishings for CB2, dubbed the Brasil Collection. Its inspired by Bob and Cortney’s tree house vacation home in Trancoso, Brasil (above). Accordingly, the pieces have a colorful, playful vibe. The collection launches at CB2 in May.

Site Spotlight: Idyll Home

Idyll Home is a British webshop offering a tightly curated collection of home furnishings and decor that have a vintage modern aesthetic, infused with a bit of the rustic and industrial. I hadn’t come across it until this morning, when proprietor Claire Krier sent me a note. I happened to need a quick topic to blog on this morning, so was psyched to see her darling offerings. Idyll Home is based in the Staffordshire countryside. Krier searches out things that aren’t in every shop, including ethical and recycled products. Lines include American meets Indian favorite John Robshaw, Danish brands Tine K and House Doctor, and Dutch tabletop company Jansen + Co. Below are a dozen pieces from Idyll Home that I’d love to own.

Design Diary: Jill Litner Kaplan’s New Home

Last evening I went to a cocktail party at Boston area interior designer Jill Litner Kaplan’s new house. Spectacular! Although Jill and I overlap in the professional world, I’ve never had the chance to work with her. I actually know Jill from temple. (Happily our sons have started hanging out at Hebrew school this year.) And, from another bizarre connection… years ago a young designer named Ally, who was moving to Boston, wrote to me asking for names of designers she could contact for a job. I sent her a long list, and she wound up working for Jill Litner Kaplan Interior Design! Not that odd… but, what is weird, is that Ally’s husband and mine coincidentally work together. Last night, not only did I get to tour Jill’s perfectly turned out house in West Newton, I finally got to meet Ally. And bumped into a few others. (Good to see you Vani!) As always, I couldn’t just enjoy the food and company (though I certainly did that too). I Instagrammed the event. Jill, although I showed up empty-handed at the last minute, I thank you for your impeccable hospitality. How’s a blog post as a belated hostess gift? xom

Color Palettes: Lizzie Fortunato Jewelry

As you probably know, I love Lizzie Fortunato jewelry. You probably also know that I do some work for contemporary design site, Design Milk. That includes using the site Colourlovers.com to create color palettes for various interiors and artwork. This week I experimented using Lizzie Fortunato necklaces and earrings, but the editor isn’t a fan. (She prefers architectural designs.) I’m posting the palettes here instead.
