Just Gorgeous: Julianne Moore

I don’t usually post celebrity photos, but I was so taken by these images of Julianne Moore from March InStyle, that I figured you’d understand the slight detour, especially since it’s Oscar night. And actually, the sets are as beautiful as she is. If you see the magazine, make sure you look at the spread in which she’s wearing the rich coral Marc Jacobs dress—her eyeliner looks amazing—it’s the same blue as the velvet sofa. The khaki nail polish is a good no-nonsense juxtaposition.

Event Alert: Boldfacers’ Edgar Allen Poe Pop-Up at W Boston Tonight

Lisa Pierpont of Boldfacers is hosting another pop-up shop and party tonight at the W Hotel in Boston in honor of Halloween. Theme is Edgar Allen Poe. Oh, spooky. Poe academics are scheduled to attend, and she told me she’s even working on securing Poe blood relatives. Costumes, DJ, murky punch, the works.

Casting Call: Design Wars Is Coming to Boston

Design Wars, a home design television series produced by Cineflix, is filming a pilot in Boston and is looking for homeowners with a room in need of a makeover, and willing to undergo the process on camera.

The candidates who make the cut will be presented with visions by three different Boston-area designers (and they will likely be amazing, as I helped come up with the preliminary list), one of which they will choose to make over their room, for free.  Sounds fun, right?

To apply email Nicki Skinner, the casting director, at nskinner@cineflix.com with the following info:

• Tell Nicki why your home needs a new look and why you can’t decide what you want.

• Include photos of you and your family and the main room in need of a new design.

• Don’t forget your contact info including an email address and daytime phone number.
