Get the Look: 60 Modern Chandeliers and Pendants
If you’re contemplating a statement light fixture in your living room, as I am, hopefully yesterday’s Montage: 47 Living Rooms with Chandeliers & Pendants gave you some ideas. Turns out I made a spur-of-the-moment rug purchase on One King’s Lane yesterday (an incredible David Hicks runner for my stairs), so the chandelier will have to wait. In the meantime, no reason to stop looking, and to really start to think about what will work in terms of size, etc.
Boston interior designer Shellie Donovan left a helpful tip on the StyleCarrot Facebook page: “Remember, measure the drop and visualize the height. The scale has to be correct, too large or small will kill the best piece. You can get flush mount for lower ceilings. ”

Just In: DVF Studio Bedding and Bath Debuts
One year ago, in the midst of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, Diane von Furstenberg launched her DVF Home collection of textiles, bedding, and tabletop. The VIP lounge was decked out with her goods, which are sold through Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus. This week, a new, lower-priced line, DVF Studio, debuted at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Scroll down for a sampling of her bold, mixed prints.
New DVF Studio bedding and bath products at Bed, Bath & Beyond:
Native River
Inspired by Diane von Furstenberg’s travels to Bali. 100 percent cotton duck ‘Native River’ print in green, yellow, white, and taupe reverses to 100 percent cotton sateen ‘Hearts of Palm’ print.
Chain Link
Balances retro glamor with contemporary graphic punch; pure DVF. 100 percent cotton duck ‘Chain Link’ print in navy, yellow, and white reverses to 100 percent cotton sateen ‘Shibori Flowers’ print.
Palm
Florida meets India in the colors of sea and saris. 100 percent cotton duck ‘Palm’ print in aquamarine and white reverses to 100 percent cotton sateen ‘Rhombus’ print.
‘Palm’ and ‘Summer Paisley’ sheet sets.
100% cotton sateen with a 250 thread count

In case you missed them over the last year, Bloomingdale’s still stocks DVF Home bedding (and tabletop).

Vintage DVF print duvets are available at DVF.com. I love these. The patterns are from the ’70s, and were resurrected last year in clothing and accessories. I just discovered these duvets. She’s actually introduced a another Vintage Collection for spring (dresses, pants, tops, jumpers, etc.), in a whole new crop of patterns from 1974.
More DVF decor: DVF-designed rooms at Claridge’s Hotel in London.

Finally, for those of you who made it to the end, in DVF bedding, tabletop, and luggage happens to be on sale at One King’s Lane today! If you need an invite, email me at stylecarrot [at] gmail [dot] com.
Sneak Peek: MoMA Design Store Destination: Mexico
Last week, on my way to NYC to see designer David Stark and his Wood Shop pop-up at Haus Interior, I got the chance to interview the President of MoMA’s retail division, Kathy Thornton-Bias. It was a real treat; talk about an amazing job. The interview will run later this spring as part of Design Milk‘s new “Design Store(y)” column (did I mention I’m Features Editor over there now?). In the meantime, I can say that she did tell me a bit about this year’s Destination: Design. Last night, the publicist sent over the look book.
In April, the MoMA Design Store launches the tenth installment in its Destination: Design series, Destination: Mexico. Kathy told me, “We pick places off the beaten path. Mexico is our neighbor and we have a mindset about them, but a tremendous amount of contemporary design is happening there.” She assured me the pieces would blow my mind, and break stereotypes.
Indeed, while some hint at indigenous Mexican craft and iconography, many are pure examples of contemporary design. Either way, most are amazing. There are 50 limited edition pieces from emerging Mexican designers, including home accessories, furniture, lighting, paper goods, and jewelry. Here are 18 pieces I really like.
