ARTmonday: Mariska Meijers’ Interior Paintings

When I posted 21 Interiors in Art back in January, I hadn’t yet discovered Amsterdam-based artist and designer Mariska Meijers. Meijers, who has no formal training, worked in the corporate world before pursuing a creative career in 2005. Her contemporary still lifes and interiors are an eclectic mix of object and patterns. I love the way she pairs African and Asian prints with both classic and mod style furnishings. She says about her work, “I stir a cocktail of objects, patterns and colours in my thoughts which I translate straight on to my canvas.”
