In order to redeem myself, or at least prove that bamboo really is a style statement worth making, I’ve collected some chic examples, including two rooms designed by Jonathan Adler. I so love his lime Chinese Chippendale chairs. I think they’d be great in my dining room. A lot of these faux bamboo pieces have become really trendy, thanks to Kelly Wearstler and her dedicated followers of the Hollywood Regency style. Maybe too trendy?
If you’ve decided you love the look, here are a few fab finds.
Rooms: Jonathan Adler, Jonathan Adler, unidentified Boston area designer, Domino, Erin Gates, unidentified, Architectural Digest, Urban Source Chicago.

I’m sorry, but I just hate it. It might be my least favorite style.
I love this look, but do think it needs to be used in small doses. Otherwise, you might be transported back to Florida circa 1975. I think it lookd best mixed in with other styles.
I like it, but agree with Paloma. Though, I do really love that top left picture of Adler’s design.
So, DK, I guess that means you don’t want to do the green chairs in the dining room?

Yes, I don’t want that around our table.
Paloma’s got the right idea. And I can’t stand Florida, and I thought 1975 was lousy.
I still think bamboo (in an glossy lacquer) can really give a room an edge. Am writing a piece about a gorgeous Nantucket house designed by Frank Roop, and there’s quite a bit of this style sprinkled in.
