ARTevent: SMFA Sidewalk Sale

This weekend is Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts’ Spring Sidewalk Sale. I am hoping to check it out. The Inside Out sale in November is always amazing, so I have high hopes for this too. And prices are good, which is always a plus.

Sponsor Love: Fabricadabra Ikat Pillows

By now most of you avid blog readers and lovers of home decor are well-acquainted with Fabricadabra’s fantastic (and wonderfully priced – just $40) ikat pillows. But I bet you’re less aware of the company’s other designs. And since Fabricadabra is now a Style Carrot sponsor (yay!) I thought it best to tout those too. Love ’em all!

ARTmonday: Kimberly Hart at Mixed Greens Gallery

I came across a blurb I pulled out of Lucky about Mixed Greens Gallery while I was diligently clearing out my file cabinet last night. The mixed media works/installations of Kimberley Hart caught my eye, probably because taxidermy is so everywhere-you-look right now. These are fabrications, not the real thing.

Spectre (9), 2009

Magnolia, 2008
Framed acrylic painting with Sculpey snare and wood scaffolding

Decoys, 2006

Covet: Cold Mountain Vases at Michelle Willey

I went back to Michelle Willey today to buy one of the striped summer scarves I posted about earlier this week. There were only five left, well four now. And I’m  still admiring these Cold Mountain porcelain vases. They have a wonderful matte finish, smooth, with textural ridges. The design was inspired by the reclusive Tang Dynasty poet Han Shan, who was known for his eccentric simplicity and love of nature.

Covet: Gamut Scarves at Michelle Willey

These scarves at Michelle Willey are as light as air and so, so pretty. They’re made from silk and cotton, and cost $98. The colors are lovely and the weave quite delicate. I also love the earthy, stringy fringe. I may have to go back and pick one out for myself. It’s actually worth a trip over there; Michelle has expanded.
