As promised I’ve sifted through every shoe in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale . Here are my 12 picks, including summer slip-ons, rain boots, winter must-haves, heels, sandals, and running shoes from Tory Burch, Rag & Bone, Hunter, Toms and other designers.
By the way, did you know that Toms makes real shoes now? I tried a few pairs on when I was on Martha’s Vineyard two weeks ago and they were so comfortable I bought a pair of block heel peep toe mules. I love them. They look especially great with white jeans.
It’s that time again. Public access to the always anticipated sale at Nordstrom (a StyleCarrot affiliate.) The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started this morning. Brand new arrivals for women, men, kids, including clothing, accessories, beauty, and home decor. Here is a selection of home furnishings picks from the sale. Stay tuned for other Nordstrom Anniversary Sale roundups; next up will be shoes.
Summer is here. For real. Did you forget to buy a cute crop of shorts and fresh tees? Sandals? Pretty dresses are important too. Now’s the time. Here are the best Memorial Day weekend sales, happening right now.

The Boston Globe asked me to speak this Thursday, May 5, 2016 in the Women to Watchseries they are sponsoring with Simon Malls about women in the workplace. The topic is “Design Your Life to Your Advantage.”
We’ll touch on women’s work topics such as work/life balance (I’m the poster child, right? Blogging at ten o’clock at night), transitioning back to the workplace after maternity or other types of leave, switching career paths, and the like.
I’m not usually inclined to get up in front of an audience (despite my career as a high school cheerleader), but this is a panel of two—interior designer Beth Bourque is joining me—moderated by Boston Globe real estate editor, who I really love.
Tomorrow is the first day of Boston Design Week (March 30-April 10, 2016), a 10-day extravaganza meant to increase awareness and appreciation of design in Boston. There are discussions, showcases, and exhibitions happening all around the city. This seminar looks like it will be particularly useful if you’re working on a bathroom renovation (which I hope to be soon).
