Shop Alert: Leokadia Is Closing in Boston

Leokadia, the South End shoe store owned by the beautiful and bubbly Jessica Lynn and named for her mom, is closing, sadly. The last day is Sunday. The furniture is for sale as well as the shoes. Bye Jess, we’ll miss your taste in shoes!

Shop Alert: Spring’s Sprung at Stel’s

Tina Burgos of Stel’s just emailed to say that the boutique’ spring lines have arrived, including pieces by:

Gary Graham, who was recently nominated for the CFDA Designer of the Year award.  Tina says,
“We love his spring flannel, paired with feminine touches.”

Surface to Air, a new addition to the Newbury Street boutique. She notes, “It’s sophisticated and elegant urban wear.”

• Kid’s lines Popupshop and Wovenplay are new additions to Stel’s tot shop within a shop, Monkey & The Bug, which has also expanded its offerings up to size 8.

Loving this Gary Graham silk “flannel” plaid dress ($595), and not just because it’s logger chic week at Style Carrot.

Deal Alert: Pinky Otto

Flirty dress boutique Pinky Otto has a buy-one-get-one-free deal going on. Hopefully this is just a great deal, not a foreshadowing of another Newbury Street closing.

Loving the tiny floral print dress on the left, which reminds me: don’t forget that Liberty for Target launches on Sunday.

Deal Alert: The Velvet Fly

The Velvet Fly, 424 Hanover Street, North End, Boston

Lorrinda Cerrutti and BethAnn Hoyos, the cute co-owners of  North End boutique The Velvet Fly are hosting a Breakfast at Tiffany’s style brunch and sale on Saturday, March 13th from 10am to 2pm. Sip mimosas and shop for new spring styles at 15% off. You’ll even get a free gift if you spend over fifty bucks (while they last).

In addition to vintage dresses by designers like DVF and Lily Pulitzer and vintage jewelry (I scored two Whiting & Davis snake bracelets there when they first opened), they also carry modern brands, including B.B. Dakota, Hazel, Myre, Plastic Island, Porridge, and Voom. Have fun picking your new spring looks, and don’t forget to grab a cannoli at Mike’s Pastry!

Shop Alert: All Saints Spitalfields To Hit Newbury Street

Amidst the rash of Newbury Street closings I’ve unearthed some good news. All Saints Spitalfields is setting up shop in the space vacated by Pottery Barn earlier this year. A definite improvement.

What’s that? Well, I admit I had no idea ’til I went to the website a few minutes ago. It’s a British brand, with complete lines of women’s, men’s, and kids pieces, plus a few home accessories. There are boutiques in New York, L.A., and Miami, and lucky us, Boston’s next. The aesthetic is sort of steampunk meets Ralph; an earthier Madewell. And, coincidentally, its plaid and antler style is perfect for my blog this week, as I’ve got a series of hunting lodge chic pieces planned in the coming days.

Here’s a sampling of their offerings. I think we’re going to like this place!
