Brit design great Sir Terence Conran of Conran & Company has entered into a partnership with the very American retailer JCPenney. Obviously its following wannabe-thought-of-as-high-end collab happy Target, though this enterprise is meant to be long term. The collection is called Design by Conran for JCPenney, and the first wave of products (58 on the website) just launched in approximately 300 JCP stores (apparently monogram monikers are the way to go these days) and online. It doesn’t seem to be getting much hype, or maybe I’m just sorely out of the loop somehow, but the products are fantastic looking. So much so, I’m tempted to drive out to the ‘burbs for a touchy feel. More likely I’ll just order something. UPDATE: Many of these pieces are now on sale. Definitely time to shop; click through for the reduced prices.

i totally agree that this collection has been underhyped! i adore a lot of the same pieces you selected. for what it’s worth, a friend ordered a bunch of the jonathan adler items and found them to be of unacceptable quality… i finally pulled the trigger on some of the conran lamps. will let you know how they are!
