In the mid ’90s, when I lived in NYC, I saw the series of “Beaches” photos by Dutch photographer Rineke Dijkstra. At a gallery or an art fair… I actually don’t remember. But I have the book that I bought and have enjoyed. And I have since seen her work again, at the ICA in Boston. Unfortunately I missed Rineke Dijkstra: A Retrospective at the Guggenheim last year. In anticipation of hitting the beach in Delray later this week (April vacation), here are a sampling of beach portraits, starting with my favorite, which has always reminded me of my younger self.

With a pool outside my window, and a tiny glimpse of ocean yonder, this collection of pools, divers, and swimmers, pulled from my Pinterest boards, seems an appropriate post for today. Yes, I’m in Florida again. Don’t hate me!
