Boston Shop Alert: Converse, Pinkberry, Ibex and J.Crew Men

Back in town for a day before heading off to NYC for a The Feast/Shop fest.  After a mani/pedi at Miniluxe I hit Madewell (got a super cute print dress, studded belt and army green jacket), then Saks for a return, and over to J.Crew (MUST try the toothpick pant – v. comfy). Here’s the new openings I spotted along the way.

Converse opening this fall on last block of Newbury next to Patagonia.

G2O Spa+Salon moving from last block 2nd floor space to fancier spot at 278 Newbury.

Pinkberry to open at 286 Newbury. Mmm.

Ibex (outdoor clothing) joins Newbury, in the former Framery space on the corner of Hereford.

The guys get their own. As reported by WWD this spring, J.Crew Men’s is opening in Boston, across the way from J.Crew in Copley Place. This will be the first men’s-specific store outside NYC. Now if they’d consider a Crew Cuts in the same location, I’d be all set.

Shop Alert: Newbury Street Update

I was back in town last week. Here are the changes I noticed on Newbury:

Le Tigre is open. Since when did they become relevant again?

Judi Rotenberg Gallery is closed. It’s too bad; they had some great work.

And right downstairs, Shu Uemura has shuttered too. Probably because they were so rude. [NOTE: A reader was offended by this comment, so I’ll clarify.] I found the service at this boutique to be unprofessional and unresponsive each time I stopped by or contacted them. By contrast, the service at MAC (112 Newbury Street) is always impeccable. PS – I use products from both lines and love them.
