Montage: Pink Living Rooms

Contining with this week’s promised Valentine’s Day theme, and further inspired by my post of the month for the Wayfair blog, “How to Decorate with Pink,”  here are 20+ living rooms that use pink as the predominant color. Some interiors are done with pink accent walls, or even four pink walls, from pale pastel pink to hot pink; many feature pink sofas, which are especially fun in an all white room, but as we know I am partial to white rooms with color pops and Scandinavian style. I am hardly inclined to go pink myself, but these are definitely pretty in pink.

Carrot Currency: 10 Pairs of Havaianas with Rooms to Match

Earlier this week an ad buyer emailed looking for placement for a “beach footwear” client. That’d be Havaianas. Recalling the popularity of the  20 Spring Shoes & 15 Rooms to Match post I did back in March, I thought you’d be game for another. That, and I’m off to Delray Beach for two weeks in December, so I figured I could get a jump on outfitting my feet. Which reminds me, I bought the cutest pair of bright skinny, cropped jeans at J.Crew on Monday.

Montage: 47 Bedrooms with Upholstered Headboards

As I’m wrapping up the details on Meredith and Daniel’s apartment, I’m also sorting through my overabundance of images in iPhoto. In the mass cleanup are a multitude of upholstered beds. If you recall, the design process started with the master bedroom, because Meredith had a specific look in mind. Said look revolved around a great upholstered bed. We opted for a silhouette with gentle curves, white canvas upholstery, and nickel nail heads. As you can see from these rooms, there are so many different variations on shape, pattern, color, and detailing. Tomorrow I’ll round up specific styles for you to shop.

Montage: 65 Palm Beach Style Rooms

With summer not far away, it’s no surprise I’ve got color on my mind. Not that I’ll ever go all out in my own house, but I definitely admire the mix of brights that designers employ in rooms with WASP style. The color, the prints, the faux bamboo, the ornate mirrors, the ugly porcelain frogs. It’s all a whirl of fun. Last month I put together two Palm Beach primers for The Inside SourcePart 1 focused on the work of designers Ellen Hamilton, Annsley McAleer, and Angie Hranowsky; Part 2 on Amanda Nisbet and Palmer Weiss. Here are more rooms with a Palm Beach aesthetic.

Montage: Orange Aid

caperoom

ven though it will probably rain, we are going to the Cape this weekend. Despite the dreary weather, when you step into (or even just glimpse) my younger son’s bedroom, you can’t help but feel invigorated. In celebration of his favorite color, today’s post is all about orange.

The color’s made quite a comeback since the ’70s. (We had an orange and white shiny vinyl booth in our kitchen when I was in elementary school, to match the orange and gold oversize plaid wallpaper. Wish I had photos!) In the ’80s, orange was seen only in Burger Kings. (The color supposedly incites hunger.) These days, orange is considered hip, and is especially popular for kid’s rooms.

I wasn’t being purposefully trendy. My son declared orange his fave shade when he was about three and grabbed an orange mug in a housewares shop, and wouldn’t let go. I don’t know how long it will last (he’s seven now), but in the meantime, it’s definitely his signature shade.

Here are a handful of other spaces outfitted in orange:
