I’ve been collecting cute and colorful tabletop and kitchen trinkets, like dipped wooden spoons, little patterned bowls, graphic tea towels, flowerpots, and such, because this summer I’d like to attempt to take more original photographs for the blog. I’ve recently attempted to style a few shots (like the ones for the Raddish Kids post), and I think they’ve come out decently. And, of course, I’ve been practicing my still life tablescape and flower photos on Instagram almost daily. The last think I need is more stuff to store, but I figured the items would be good inspiration.
That reminded me of these artworks of bowls that I’ve been saving for a while, and figured today is as good a time as any to post them.

Did yesterday’s post Montage: 30 Pretty Pastel Interiors convince you to go soft? Some of those rooms weren’t sickeningly sorbet, there was a richness to them, I thought. Still, I understand if you have qualms. You could easily add a touch of pastel home furnishings here and there however. A sky blue chaise, peachy table linens, a mint fridge. Kidding on the mint fridge part; unless you’re going for a retro diner look. I wonder how many people have purchased that Smeg mint refrigerator from West Elm? I’m more inclined to go for a World’s Away turquoise bar cart myself. And I’m definitely eyeing the woven hamper. At least splurge on a fouta and some bamboo cutlery for a pastel picnic. Ok my pretties, here are your pastel picks for the day!

Norah Guignon‘s blog, Curate 1K, is simple. Every week she scours the web to find $1,000 worth of affordable artwork. The site is clean and simple, presenting a digestible number of thumbnails on each page. When you click into the artwork, she lists not just the vital stats, but the price and link to where you can purchase it. She’s not in business, it’s just a labor of art love. And it is art I love.

Artist Ashley Goldberg of the blog Kitty Genius, whom I discovered on Pinterest, has been creating some great patterns of late: birds, feathers, dots, geometric shapes. When I clicked over to her Etsy shop, I was immediately drawn to these charming portraits of mod girls who seem to have come out of a world where ’60s London meets contemporary Harajuku. I may need to buy the postcard set.
