Montage: Swings

I’ve been noticing swings in interiors rather a lot over the last year. The plexiglass ones have a retro ’60s look and the rattan harken back to the ’70s. I prefer the cleaner, more architectural designs. I sprinkled in a few summery outdoor ones too. Brian Andriola

Get the Look: Elephants

Sick of elephants yet?  You have to admit, these pieces are pretty cute. I was so enamored of a chrome bank I found on eBay for the “Trendlet Alert: Elephants” story on The Inside Source that I bought it for my friend Meredith who just had a baby (and happens to be editor of that [...]

Montage: Elephants

I don’t have as many images as I like to present in my montage posts, but I wanted to get this  up while the trend was still on the upswing.  In absence of image overload, I added captions to each. ARTmonday: Elephants

The elephant is the season’s “it” animal in interiors and the arts. I’m seeing them everywhere, from the stage to indie films, in shelter mags and in the shops. The elephant is not new to the style scene. Iconic examples of the beast have been around a while. Here’s a quick look at select elephants  [...]

Montage: Wall Installations

I’ve been really interested in the idea of wall installations lately; a natural progression after last year’s obsession with wall sculptures. While you can use pretty much anything to create pattern and texture to blank walls, the ones I’m most attracted to are the art works. ( I have an ‘everyday objects as wall art’ [...]

Fashion Break: Really Ugly Shoes

I’ve been clicking through a lot of shopping sites for work for NBC’s fashion blog “The Thread.” I just put together “Espadrille Thrill,” a photo gallery (complete with shopping credits, of course) of the 20 cutest espadrilles of the season. I came across a number of absolutely hideous summer shoes in my search. Here are [...]

Montage: Ikat (& Suazni)

The i k a t trend is holding fast and furious. So much so that Elle Decor, which has been touting the look for years (House Beautiful is a huge fan too), devoted a page to it in the front of the book this month. I promise to put a product post together too, but [...]

Montage: Branching Out

A breezy, beautiful day. But before we abandon the chilly season altogether, I thought I’d break out the branches. While I’m sorta over the branch branch furniture and accessories (though I included some shots), I love the real thing used as sculpture. And I still adore the wallpapers. Montage: Vintage Suitcases

I’m really not a dusty old suitcase kind of gal. But last month I was at designer Jeff Osborne’s South End loft (I’ll blog about it later this week), where I realized I must acknowledge the allure of vintage Vuitton. (His Vuitton is the second photo down.) While I won’t be procuring any of these [...]
